Simply put, this is the best album of 2001, made by the best modern rock band.  I shouldn't even be writing this review, because this is an album that I can't really describe; it must be listened to to be understood.  From HBO stars to a record label, Tenacious D is a band that sounds like no other, and that is all for the better.

I guess the only slightly negative point of this album would be the sketches.  Even though they are really, really funny, I usually just skip them because I want to get to the music.  Anyway, all the songs, Kielbasa, Tribute, Wonderboy, Fuck Her Gently, Explosivo, Dio, Kyle Quit The Band, The Road, Lee, Friendship, Karate, Rock Your Socks, Double Team, and the hidden track City Hall are all fantastic and I can't choose a favorite one because they're all seriously that awesome.  Jack Black's voice is golden, and I really can't imagine anyone else as the vocalist for this band.  The songs are all written in a stream-of-consciousness style, with a ton of improvisation, and the group dynamic between JB and KG is just wonderful.  They may not be the best musicians, or write very technically challenging music, but they more than make up for it with intensity and feeling, and in the end that's what really matters.  So yeah, anyway, buy this record, your life will never be the same ever again.
