L'Arc~en~Ciel heavenly (1995) 1. Still I'm
With You (4:14) |
heavenly is a slight departure from L'Arc~en~Ciel's earlier albums, having a more upbeat sound and being slightly more accessible. It's also sort of a forgotten album, since none of the singles here made it into the Clicked Singles compilation album, and the only single here that really gets any sort of recognition is Vivid Colors. Even with all this this, heavenly is still a fantastic album, with hardly a bad song anywhere. Still I'm With You is a fairly catchy and upbeat piece with a really nice chorus, and Vivid Colors is a really beautiful rock song with great performances from all the band members. and She Said is a solid rock song, though I'm probably one of the few people that think the chiming in of the "and she said" at the chorus is cheesy. Garasu(Glass) dama gets off to a slow start with some ocean sounds, but it's a great song that gradually builds in intensity over the course of its length, with some very emotional vocals from Hyde. I'm not really a big fan of Secret Signs, but it's a fairly fast paced rock song with some smooth vocals. C'est La Vie showcases the band more light and upbeat side, as it is probably the happiest song on this album. Natsu no yu-utsu is the other single on this album besides Vivid Colors, and sounds very different from its original single version, and I'm happy to say that it was for the better. Cureless is probably the weakest song on this album, though by no means is it bad. The chorus is pretty catchy, at least. Shizuka no umi de is a very beautiful and epic song, clocking in at over 7 minutes, with some dramatic instrumentals and an awesome vocal perforamnces. I personally would have preferred this to be the album ender instead of The Rain Leaves a Scar, which is a straight-up rock song, contrasting in sound to the rest of the album. |
