The second album from supergroup ELP proves to be better than their first, as they refine their signature sound and produce the absolute best epic ever penned in their career.

Which happens to be the title track, Tarkus.  Tarkus is a massive 20+ epic that to my ears, is the best thing the band's ever done in their career, with Emerson at the very forefront with some truly jaw-dropping keyboard work and great drumming from Palmer.  This is really what the whole album is about, and it's one of the best prog rock epics of the '70s, and is really required listening for everybody.

The second half of the album doesn't quite fare as well, being really hit or miss.  The only other track I really like is Bitches Crystal, with you guessed it, more great keyboard work from Emerson.  The other stuff just has really, really bad lyrics, and Lake's performance doesn't serve to make it any better.
