the brilliant green are my favorite Japanese band of all time, but their first album is definitely their worst, unfortunately.  Even the band members have admitted that this album is mostly filler, just putting in their hit singles but writing filler songs in between them.

With that said, though, the singles and their B-sides are all very strong songs.  And the signature buriguri sound, jangle pop with a bit of Beatles influence, is already established here.  The first two tracks are probably still two of the best brilliant green songs ever.  I'm In Heaven is still the best brilliant green opening track out of all of their albums, showcasing Matsui Ryo's guitar skills quite well.  tsumetai hana contains one of the best vocal performances from Tomoko Kawase ever, and You & I is probably one of their most catchiest songs penned in their career.  Unfortunately, after this, the album is then plagued with a bunch of filler, all the way until Baby London Star, a high-energy piece that shows the bands' Veruca Salt influence.  Then comes There will be love there, the obligatory single, the song that was used for the ending theme of the Japanese drama Love Agaain, aka the song that made them famous.  This is one of the bands' best songs ever, a power ballad with some inspiring vocals and one of the catchiest choruses ever.  Then the album ends on a low note with Rock'n Roll, another B-side.

In the end, if you're just getting into this band, this probably shouldn't be the first album to get.
