the brilliant green's 3rd album is without a doubt, their most unique.  It's the only album they've done with mostly Japanese lyrics(and yet the title is an American city, interestingly enough) and the sound mixing was done by the band themselves this time around.  The result is a very rough, distorted, and muddy sound, which would normally be a bad thing, but it helps in this case because Los Angeles is also the album where buriguri would shift from the predominantly jangle pop sound in earlier albums to alternative.  This is where the band's Veruca Salt influence is most loudly heard.  The album opens with the awesome one-two punch of THE LUCKY STAR and YEAH I WANT YOU BABY, and immediately once you hear the first notes will you know that this is a very different album.  Both are fast and heavy rock songs, bordering on punk, and they actually segue into each other, which is a nice touch.  Then comes the single angel song, a much softer Christmas song with an infectious melody.  Easily the best song on the album.  Other highlights include Hidoi Ame, which I'll admit I didn't like at first due to the weird mixing, but it's really grown on me throughout time.  The bass is really, really heavy, but I'm pretty sure it's intentional as it weakens at the chorus, giving Tommy's voice that much more power during that section.  FALLING STAR IN YOUR EYES is just a beautiful, moderate tempo ballad(the only one on the album), proving that simplicity at its core is always better than complexity.  IT'S UP TO YOU! is probably the only straight-up upbeat rock song on the album, used in the Japanese version of The Powerpuff Girls.  Hello Another Way is the other single, not quite as strong as angel song, but still very nice, albeit a bit predictable.  The only weak song I would say that's on this album is the title track LOS ANGELES, which is just a really boring instrumental that doesn't seem to serve any purpose at all.
