| bôa Get There (2005) 1. Angry (3:42) |
After a long series of delays, bôa finally return in 2005 with Get There, 4 years after Twilight. Due to the delays, the band decided to produce and mix the album themselves, an honorable feat and luckily the sound quality hasn't suffered at all. Get There is a bit heavier than its predecessor Twilight, and a lot more guitar(acoustic and electric) intensive. Also, while the previous album had a wide variety of styles on it, this one has a more dominating feel of similarity between songs, which can be good or bad depending on your point of view. The lyrics are still as great and poetic as ever. Highlight tracks include Angry, one hell of an opener, a rock piece with some fairly self explanatory lyrics. Get There is a fairly mellow song about not losing your way, and Wasted is a very catchy rock piece with one hell of an awesome chorus. Believe Me is another great rock piece with some very sarcastic lyrics about knowing when someone is lying to you(it might be political, though I don't know, I might be taking the line "there's no need for war anyway" too seriously). Daylight is a great minimalist song, but it does take a while to appreciate, as it might seem a bit too repetitive at first. Older is a song where the band sorta takes a step out of the spotlight, as it's mostly a Jasmine vocal piece, but the mixing is very meticulously and cleverly done. The choice of percussion in this song is perfect. And then there's the ending track, On The Wall, which is a bit.. umm.. well, it's unique, haha. Not really a fan of the style of singing that Jasmine decides to adopt for this, but at least the guitar accompaniment is really well done. |
